Studio Time - Getting Warmer
Studio Time Six
Have you ever known what you wanted to say but could not get the words out? We have always known what we wanted in this piece, we've seen it and what is coming down the road. However actually having it come together was very very difficult. But it is a classic example of how we work the collaboration. Sometimes it takes lines of dialog being volleyed back and forth via email from one character to the next (yes, we did that, one line at a time in some instances) to writing exceptional scenes that just didn't fit in the long run.
We are both suffering through a tremendous drain in creativity and I am thankful that we are able to pull each other up the mountain to get on that next plateau. It hasn't been easy but I cannot say it isn't worthwhile once we arrive. This is why our collaboration works. It isn't about ego or time-lines. It is about the story we want to tell, the way we want to tell it and in our own time. We want to walk carefully down the path, not missing a beat, not straying from the map and that means that it can take longer than we want.

In Perfect Harmony
In June of 2007 I posted my first chapter of Dark December. Since that time, the story has evolved and changed in part through a collaboration that developed and lasted over 4 years. During this time a friendship was forged. Thank you Beth, for unwavering friendship, support, and generosity over these last 4+ years. It has been a journey I will never forget.

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."
In dreams, we'll never be apart
In dreams, I'll promise you'll never be alone
How much I wish your voice could send me home
Finding ten minutes of creativity in a week was sometimes hard for both of us. Thank you for pulling and pushing, and for helping me dump the scene that did NOT work. Thank you for everything...
ReplyDeleteWe may still find a use for that scene...
ReplyDeleteWe are there for each other so thank you too.
You take however long you need - I am always in awe of your collaborative vision and how well you pull off getting us to feel with your characters and immerse ourselves in their world. If you posted daily or yearly we would be there to read :)
ReplyDeleteRad thank you. I appreciate that so much. We all go through periods of doubt about what we are doing and piling on real life issues sometimes makes it overwhelming.
