This Time I Mean It

We already had this one in the bag more or less. The sets and the shots were completely overwhelming. However, Beth found a spurt of energy and inspiration and rocked it with the shots. It was an important piece that we really did want to get out. After this, there really will be no updates for a little while.

Special shout out to Qui who worked with Beth to get poses down for the garden scene. We are both very thankful for such supportive friends. Thank you Qui.

Studio Time Announcement

Fireflies from Remy ~ for Beth

Studio Time is going on a temporary hiatus. As most of you know this is a story that Beth and I collaborate on. We are both struggling right now with real life issues as well as game issues. Unfortunately, the desire to continually produce frequent updates that are fresh, lush, and unique is taking its toll on both of us.

It has been particularly hard on Beth who has had to take the majority of the shots because my game cannot manage the sets right now. The stress of interpreting the writing into a shot, finding and mapping poses, getting the sets to look stunning (no one does it like she can) - the list goes on. It is too much.

Therefore, the story is going on hiatus until things ease up. This could be brief or it could be longer. Once the pressure has lifted a little and things are on a more even keel, we will be back, I promise. And the updates will (hopefully) be better than ever.

We appreciate your understanding and your support. Please don't give up on us, we just need a vacation.

~ Thanks

Thinking Out Loud Again

I've been giving this CC issue a lot of thought. Currently I have 101 folders in my Downloads and some of those have sub-folders. I wanted some way to organize what I had but sadly things got confusing. I tried to categorize things by category for Build or Buy. But that is a double edged sword. For example, you download a picture or a sculpture only to find that it was cloned from a plant. Same with rugs. Or they end up in Miscellaneous (which should be banned IMHO).

And I have some sub-folders for creators/sites. And sets. Which is good if you ever lose a mesh and need to remember where it came from. However you get the creator who recolors and tacks their name and the original creator's name on the file. Where would that go? I could go on...

So I made a new list of categories per the way the game sorts. I will still have a ton of folders and the same issue of pictures being plants, etc. It occurred to me that I could simply do the following:

  • BUILD (everything Build mode)
  • BUY (everything Buy mode)
  • BODY SHOP (clothing, Hair, skintones, accessories, brows, eyes, facial hair, make-up)
  • DEFAULTS
  • HACKS (because they need to be in their own folder)
  • NB DECOR

That way even if I do a sub-folder by creator/site it won't be such an overwhelming file structure. Although looking at the Body Shop category separating those would be tricky. Some accessories are make-up for example. And some hair and clothing meshes are hard to tell if they are male or female.

I'd love some feedback on this. Bear in mind I currently have over 55,000 files and I am still not done re-installing things for the lots I need to replace. o_0

This Would Have Been Many Thanks

Danica's most recent photo shoot

I had something else I was going to post here but instead I am going to complain. At the rate I am going I may never be able to take another screen cap or even use my game. So let's call this a post of anniversaries. Milestones. The good, the bad, the ugly.

  • It has been nearly two years since my game has been stable
  • It has been 4 years since the first post for Dark December

I had intended to offer up a gift for those of you who have been there since the beginning and for all the new readers but if I can't stabilize my game I won't be able to follow through.

I really hate wasting time and loading and crashing and loading and crashing is a definite time suck.

Welcome to my black hole.

In Perfect Harmony

In June of 2007 I posted my first chapter of Dark December. Since that time, the story has evolved and changed in part through a collaboration that developed and lasted over 4 years. During this time a friendship was forged. Thank you Beth, for unwavering friendship, support, and generosity over these last 4+ years. It has been a journey I will never forget.

In dreams, we'll never be apart
In dreams, I'll promise you'll never be alone
