Every so often I get objects that flash blue in the neighborhood view but when I enter the lot they are fine. Ryan McDermott's lot was the one that usually did this and it was always a tree. The strange thing now is that it not only flashes blue in the neighborhood view but also when I enter the lot.
Even more unusual is that now, when I go into Buy mode, the tree looks normal. It looks normal in the catalog regardless of what color I choose. Then I go back to live mode and it is blue again.
This tree is a recolor of a Maxis tree so I am not sure what the heck just happened with it. The images below depict the issue. Top one is Buy/Build mode and the lower one is Live mode. Please excuse the poor quality shots, they were taken with the in-game camera.
So. Any thoughts? Cure for the Blue Flash?

In Perfect Harmony
In June of 2007 I posted my first chapter of Dark December. Since that time, the story has evolved and changed in part through a collaboration that developed and lasted over 4 years. During this time a friendship was forged. Thank you Beth, for unwavering friendship, support, and generosity over these last 4+ years. It has been a journey I will never forget.

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."
In dreams, we'll never be apart
In dreams, I'll promise you'll never be alone
How much I wish your voice could send me home
I'll preface this with saying that I probably don't know what the hell I'm talking about but the only thing I can think of is that maybe the mesh or some texture file has mysteriously disappeared from the game. If you remember where you got it from you might want to try downloading the recolor again.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, that is quite the predicament. I have absolutely no idea what it could be, unfortunately, but if I were you, I might try changing the color of the tree with the design tool, just to see if the blue still appears. Granted, that is a very vibrant color and I don't think the Maxis ones are quite as nice.
ReplyDeleteThat is the weird thing about this Muzegoddess, it is a Maxis mesh. I don't know if recolors rely on a specific recolor texture in order to show up since one of the 7 or so recolors seems to be missing but wouldn't it be blue in Build/Buy mode? Unfortunately I have no idea where it came from since there is no description with a Maxis recolor other than the original.
ReplyDelete*sigh* but thatnk you for the ideas.
Van, the design tool changes the color of the tree no problem in Build mode but when I go to Live mode it turns blue again. I love the various colors of this tree and hate to lose it but this is weird.
ReplyDeleteSince you sent me that lot, thought I'd add that it does the same thing for me or to me. I finally took out that tree since I have a bunch of similarly colored trees the same size.
ReplyDeleteYou mean it is blue in Live mode? That is so weird since it used to work. Oh well, I'll delete it and use a different tree. I get too anal about fixing things that can't be fixed.
ReplyDeleteYes it is blue. And it is NOT worth worrying about. It's a minor broken thing. Dump it.
ReplyDeleteHey there! I'm finally off for the summer! And I hope to catch up on all the stuff that I've missed! I know what you're talking about. I've had similar experiences like that with objects in the game turning blue - even with the catalog collection pics. I heard it usually happens when a mesh file gets corrupted or is deleted. I tried to downsize my collections a few times, of some of the old fan-made stuff, and ignorantly deleted a file or two assuming that it wasn't important - then I found out afterward that another fan-made object (that I liked) was using it as a base file. Urgg! That's one of the drawbacks to the Sims 2 game that I still don't like - the lack of organization to the Downloads file - being able to see what's what and where you got it from from. Oh well... that's why it's important to keep backups! Lol! Be back again soon! : D
ReplyDeleteColliegirl!! Good to hear from you! I ended up replacing it with a different tree. It is infuriating though.
