A Romantic Through and Through

There is no escaping it...I am a romantic. I believe in love and romance. My muse believes in it as well and with permission I am pleased to share a beautiful tribute from Cooper to Beth. It was filmed during a romantic birthday celebration for Beth in their grotto.

It has been awhile since I visited the fine art of machinima. I hope to have one or two more videos out soon. Until then, Till There Was You, a ballad sung by Paul McCartney and The Beatles. I have always loved this song from The Music Man. I hope you enjoy it.

  1. Absolutely lovely and loving, and purely romantic! Beautiful, beautiful piece of music, and you did it justice. Loved every bit of it! And it has been too long!

  2. Thank you. Making it reminded me of just how much I still have faith in love and romance.

And it would seem that Marian the librarian was first to sing that song at the foot bridge although I swear Robert Preston sang some part of it in that movie...maybe at the end when he was leaving?

Anyway, I hope I can balance the writing and the movies at some point. I really do enjoy them.

  3. You've got that smooth pan down to an art. I am loving all the angles you are using for this.

It's a beautiful tribute and the sets are all wonderfully vivid and romantic.

And I have to say, I think it's great being a romantic.

  4. I meant to add: Sorry you couldn't find a better alternative to Stage 6 for your machinima. I think I will upload to Youtube too. I can't remember my Veoh log on details and the site is really really slow to load for me lately.

  5. aww, so so sweet! it's really adorable seeing this side of cooper, so different from EVERY GIRL'S CRAZY BOUT A SHARP DRESSED MAN Cooper! Loved that one btw, I thought Heydon looked spanking in it! All these hot daddies! Good job on the vid gayl (both of them), loved the interactions for this one, so well-suited to the words.

Can I get your advise on smth? If you had to choose 2 EPs to work with, which 2 would it be? I'm thinking of nightlife and smth else cos I'm using a mac and it's a tad more expensive than windows to get EPs. Which other EP would you feel would be most profitable for a story? I'm thinking University for the life stage of young adult and the band set (that's University right?) or Bon Voyage, the holiday sets look great! But at the same time seasons could add some flavour. What do you think?

  6. Anghard ~ Thank you for pointing me to those great tutorials awhile back! I actually still converted it with divx and uploaded it there which helps with the playback quality some.

I was disappointed in Veoh as well and haven't pressed my options there yet although I may. What can they do besides ban me and well...I think I might be able to survive that. If I can't upload there, they can feel free to close my account; I wouldn't be able to use it anyway.

But I have always loved this song and it just seemed to fit the occasion and the couple. I originally had the movie set to a different song which I lost the file for somehow and when I stumbled across it on a thumb drive, I found this one and voila!

Chloe ~ Glad you liked this video. It is completely different from SDM but then Cooper has many facets to him. He is so much more than what some people may perceive. If you don't look hard enough, you miss an incredible guy.

As for expansion packs, that's a tough call. Nightlife for sure since you get the downtown and the romance interactions (no surprise I would choose that) and University is fine if you want YA although I dread chronicling Wyatt's univ. years simply because it is hard to manage along with storytelling.

I like OFB a lot since I can control some community lots better with it and of course I like the fact that my characters can own things. Plus you get Bluewater Village which is a must for me.

I love the beaches and the idea of walking places from BV plus all the cool things you can do in it although I don't have it yet and will need to wait until I clean up my PC and upgrade the graphics card.

Pets...eh. I ban pets from my lots because they get in the way although I did try to make a copy of our cat, Ozzy. It's hard and I don't know what I get out of it.

So if I had to narrow it down to just 2...I guess I would say Nightlife and OFB...you can always fake univ. No wait! I couldn't have a band without univ. so I guess that would be the one instead of OFB.

Tough choice! I know it is expensive with the Mac. All software is but I bet it runs well.

I'm not much help I'm afraid. LOL!

  7. Ummm, yeah. Could that comment be any longer? Should have broken it up...

  8. thanks gayl! It REALLY is a big help (and it was a long tag too lol). At least, I've narrowed down my choices, Karen said Nightlife and OFB too. Damn me and my mac, I was at this store the other day and they were selling sims 2 deluxe, seasons and stuff all for SGD$99 which is approx. USD$76. Meh!

I'm really really unclear about what exactly OFB allows you to do though. If could expound a little :P? Like highlight some of the thigns you cldn't have done without OFB.

Also, as a Univ owner, do you think the YA stage adds an immense amt of dimension or is it negligible?

I can't wait to see Wyatt's univ years, this shld be interesting :). I wonder how Wyatt feels about Rayne... out with the next chapter quick!

  9. Chloe ~ With OFB you get the Bluewater neighborhood which has the beach properties. Since I don't have BV, that is the plus for me. The other thing is the elevators and awnings and there are a couple of animations I have used from it. I guess if you need to choose, you could put OFB on your wish list for now.

    Good luck with your choices!

  10. Well, I left a comment on your video but don't think it went through. I was so excited to see you do another! I need to get back into it, it is a lot of fun to do!
I love seeing your characters in action as opposed to just still frames, you almost feel like you're right there in their little world! Coop is such a sweet guy too, I love seeing him with Miss Beth. Wonderful work as always!

  11. Well after watching this, my feeble, lame attempts (slideshows) that I just put up at youtube, pale! I am tempted to delete them, now!
    Wonderful gayl!
    Loved it!

  12. Emily ~ thanks! I really do enjoy making these and wish I had more time to do them. I still haven't balanced work, motherhood, writing, videos, housework, etc. to my advantage. I am working on that but invariably, it's the housework that suffers. But then I have kids that I could coerce into doing some of it...the housework, not the videos. I shudder to think what they would churn out. hehe

  13. Karen ~ thank you! it took me a long time until I started to get the movie making thing down. I am talking years. I tried and it just didn't work. I didn't get it. And I am still learning. You shouldn't take down your slide shows; I know a couple of people who started making movies by first using slide shows. Don't give up!

Thanks for leaving me your thoughts ~ they always mean a lot.

In Perfect Harmony

In June of 2007 I posted my first chapter of Dark December. Since that time, the story has evolved and changed in part through a collaboration that developed and lasted over 4 years. During this time a friendship was forged. Thank you Beth, for unwavering friendship, support, and generosity over these last 4+ years. It has been a journey I will never forget.

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

In dreams, the sun sets in our eyes
In dreams, we'll never be apart
In dreams, I'll promise you'll never be alone
How much I wish your voice could send me home
