More Like a Guideline

I feel your pain baby girl...I'm tired too...

Special shout-out *does anyone use that expression anymore* to The Lunar Fox of Ruin and Tierra de Legado fame for helping me rotate my banners! Thank you! Please, if you haven't done so, check out her stories; she is a wonderful writer. *makes note to add to blog list*

In what seems like a never-ending effort to chronicle the heck out of my life I came to a sort of decision about my various and sundry blogs/journals. From now on I plan to post Sims related posts here on Storybook Haven. It is, after all, a storybook haven...

Of course this is by no means a hard and fast rule since I don't follow rules much so yeah, a guideline, and like the many new year's resolutions I have made and broken over the years, I expect it will change. I am going to try to post non-story related stuff on either my LJ or Dreamwidth. Or Wordpress. Or not. Indecisive much?

I also thought it would be fun to throw a little goofy cartoon or sage words of wisdom in the little box on the top right of this blog. So I did. I love LOVE Calvin and Hobbes don't you?

I just picked my son up from a friend's house. Their front door looks suspiciously like a Sim door...hmmm. I know I am not the only one who sees all things Sim in real life...come on, I know you've wanted to Sim that house down the street or the bitchy neighbor so you can torture her...

  1. Glad you got it working, Gayl! :D That picture is adorable! Poor thing, lol. She looks fed up and exhausted. Can't I learn to walk later??

My husband has a special look he reserves just for those moments when I make comments about something in RL looking suspiciously sim-like. Or when I say stupid things like, "I mean it. Right now, if I were a sim, my hunger bar would be EMPTY! FOOOD!"

  2. Your banner looks beautiful! I'm glad it all worked out.

Is there a person who doesn't like Calvin and Hobbes? My bf has a Hobbes tattoo on the side of his calf. (He and two friends went into a parlor one night and got Calvin, Hobbes, and Suzie tattoos.)

And yes, I do see lots of houses around here I would love to simmify. Sometimes I see people I would like to simmify, too. I love when I actually see people who have sim hairstyles though. That always cracks me up.

  3. Trust me Mao, she threw more than one irritated look at her father before finally crawling away in a huff.

My kids look at me suspiciously when I start comparing things to Sims. I think they are going to lock me up one of these days...

  4. Thanks again Lunar Fox! I can't tell you how much fun I had hitting the F5 button and watching it change! It's the little things you know?

I have been so tempted to take a picture of one of my Sims to the girl that does my hair because I want her hair. I'm afraid she'll look at me like I am insane. And if I could build houses there are a ton in my neighborhood I would love to duplicate.

  6. I'm so glad you did this! I love the rotating banners! And yeah, who doesn't love Hobbes?

Once in a while I do see houses I'd like to sim, particularly since we live in a community of aging 'modern' homes. Watching decorating shows on TV is what really does it. Constantly thinking 'oh yeah! Put that thing on that wall just like that!'

  7. LMAO! I told my hubby one time that the girl behind the counter at Subway reminded me of a sim! Nothing imparticular, she just really had that look (the bright purple eyeshadow she was wearing might have helped though!) :D

I love that animation, so funny and it reminds me of my dog except she usually goes after her back leg instead! LOL.

And I didn't know you could have rotating banners, that's awesome!

  8. Thanks Dinuriel! I didn't do much to those shots, most of them were older ones I just cropped and threw some layers on with a little blur and stuff. I like how they turned out although I would like to add a couple more. I just have been too tired to go in and take shots...

  9. Hi Emily! I have been struggling with rotating banners for months and months. And even now I had to fight to keep it from bleeding under my posts...Lunar Fox sent me some wonderful directions that I will see if I can share.

I have never really thought about simming people although clothes they wear I have...but structures yes. Even though I can't build to save my life. If it wasn't for Beth I wouldn't be able to decorate either. I draw my inspiration from her work.

  10. Beth, Hobbes is the best! And it is so typical of a cat (or a cute tiger) to see the tip of his tail as the enemy.

I have seen you build and decorate some amazing things...especially the incredible neighborhoods (although I know that is a sore subject right now)

  11. When I used to take the train to work, there was a guy that got on at the stop after me who looked like uncannily like Goopy. I started catching a different train because I couldn't help staring at him and I didn't want him to get the wrong idea :P

  12. A Goopy lookalike would make me take a different train too! I just can't stop doing it though.

  13. hi gayl :D!
the hair on my self-sim is from Janita's blog (http://blog.daum.net/janita). Look under the category "Sims 2 Downloads" on the RIGHT hand side and under it look for "Hair Modified"; Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page for the page numbers and it should be on page 34 :) The mesh is NOT included and you'll need to pick it up from PMBD or Simscave.

In Perfect Harmony

In June of 2007 I posted my first chapter of Dark December. Since that time, the story has evolved and changed in part through a collaboration that developed and lasted over 4 years. During this time a friendship was forged. Thank you Beth, for unwavering friendship, support, and generosity over these last 4+ years. It has been a journey I will never forget.

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

In dreams, the sun sets in our eyes
In dreams, we'll never be apart
In dreams, I'll promise you'll never be alone
How much I wish your voice could send me home
