I took a little walk down memory lane today. This shot is from the first Dark December chapter I ever posted and remains one of my favorites. No Photoshop effects, taken with the in-game camera, and, since I had no idea how to even adjust the settings on the game, it was only 400x300. It doesn't look half bad re-sized.
I was reminded the other day about where all this started. It does help to go back and re-read even if it does make you cringe in places. Touching base with the heart of the work, what it was all about in the first place, is grounding. I admit it used to make me cry but today I was able to look back and smile even if it was just a small one.
My planned update for this weekend obviously did not happen after all. I have a serious case of the blahs with a side dish of no sleep. I didn't know how to get a certain character to logically be where she needs to be. I'm thinking about it but it just wasn't happening. And now that Beth got me over that hump, I am too tired to finish.
So hopefully I can finish the writing and start taking shots tomorrow after work and get something posted by mid-week. Not making promises but it would make me happy to move forward.
I love that shot. And it is good to go back and re-read. It's easy to lose touch and forget where you started and what it was about.
ReplyDeleteIt surprised me that they weren't as bad as I thought. Thank you, if you hadn't mentioned how much it helped to go back to the beginning I may not have re-visited it.
ReplyDeleteWow. That shot brings back memories. I remember when I first saw it I was so curious about who was in that grave. I was also curious about where his feet were (didn't have seasons at the time so I didn't understand about the snow). Such a long journey from then to now. It can be helpful to read past things and see where you've been. Hell I only have, what, 8 updates now and I have to re-read all the time. Anyway, good luck on what you are working on. I'm sure it will be great, as usual.
ReplyDeleteNow that you mention it Muzegoddess it does look odd that you can't see his boots!
ReplyDeleteThat shot was very profound and significant. The unmarked stone, the cold, the birch tree. That I can look at it without crying means a lot. And thank you...I got distracted tonight but the writing is almost complete.
