Ever wonder who reads your work? I know I do. I get so curious about where they are, how they found my writing/blogs, what drew them and what makes them come back. You know, things like that. I thought it might be interesting to ask those same readers those very questions.
In that spirit, I would love it if those of you who read would post a comment about where you are be it big city or rural US, or anywhere beyond. Tell me about yourself, as much as you would like. Come on, don't be shy. Even you readers who don't post comments as a rule, I am really curious. I'll even go first!
I currently live in a very small Tudor house a block away from the railroad tracks (although I rarely hear them pass by) and a stone's throw away from the San Francisco Bay and international airport (on a stormy day, I can hear the jets fly over). I always wanted to live in a cute cottage so I guess this is about as close as I might get despite the fact that I don't have the meadow full of wildflowers surrounding it.
The house I used to own had been on piers and the bay would come right up to it before it was filled. Apparently it was a well known doctor's vacation cabin. Small and really poorly built but they didn't have a lot of building codes back in 1906 which is when that house had been built.
Now it's your turn! Tell me a little something about yourself and your surroundings!

In Perfect Harmony
In June of 2007 I posted my first chapter of Dark December. Since that time, the story has evolved and changed in part through a collaboration that developed and lasted over 4 years. During this time a friendship was forged. Thank you Beth, for unwavering friendship, support, and generosity over these last 4+ years. It has been a journey I will never forget.

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."
In dreams, we'll never be apart
In dreams, I'll promise you'll never be alone
How much I wish your voice could send me home
Well I came across your work thanks to Drew, who helped me to begin my blog tellings. 80)
ReplyDeleteI live in a quaint 2 bed 1 bath (UGH TRY SHARING WITH TWO MEN) unit in Vallejo, Near the waterfront!
Grew up in a Charming 2 bed 1 Bath in Glen Ellen, CA. If you havent been there it is a must, Jack London's house was only a mile away!!! and he is still one of my favorite authors. 80)
Still I miss the garden, the creek I spent every summer chasing away Crawdads and trying to catch Tadpoles in!
And your writing is AWESOME!
Hi Gayl, I came across your series indirectly through TSR when SB was posting there - way back! I followed the collaboration that took place and the rest they say is history(or herstory so to speak)! I am so thrilled that you both allowed me the reader to go along for the ride because I have been hooked ever since! It has been amazing to read and watch the levels to where you both have taken this - I just love the creative expressions that you have brought out from a simple thing like Sims 2! It never ceases to amaze me!
ReplyDeleteMy family is military currently stationed in Ohau Hawaii on a military base and I cannot complain about the backdrop from my window - We are 5 mins from beautiful pacific island white sand coastlines in all directions and never devoid of a beautiful sunfilled day unless of course its pouring rain. Living in paradise is not without its drawbacks though - it is first and formost a jungle out there - bugs and all!
When we are not there we are at home at the base of the Colorado Rockies Colorado Springs CO (where Pikes Peak is our constant view) where I grew up - where you are guaranteed to experience 4 seasons in one 24 hour period. We have always loved it though!
Thanks for listening and looking forward to what is to come from your stories!
Wow. Ok.
ReplyDeleteWe met way back on TSR but you know that LOL!
I live in in Northern Virginia roughly 35 miles NW of Washington DC. The house is a contemporary style house with a lot of glass and very high ceilings. 4 bedrooms and 3 baths and several weird extra rooms.
There's woods and a creek behind the house. It's very pretty back there. Which is a good thing because, despite all the rooms in the house, it's kind of dinky and laid out in a strange way. And because there's a lot of glass, it gets roasting hot in the summer!
and your writing is indeed awesome!
Well, we met at TSR as you know, LOL!
ReplyDeleteWas born In Saint John, New Brunswick Canada, Later moved to Nova Scotia when I was 6, growing up outside of Halifax. Was married at 20 to my teacher hubby and have been following him around ever since! Lived in a few other areas of Canada, even made it back to Nova Scotia, but now live in the dead center of the country, in a tiny town in Northwestern part of the province of Ontario.
Apparently I am living in a hunting and fishing paradise, but it is lost on me, I loathe nature! LOL! City girl at heart.
What keeps me coming back is your generous, supportive nature and of course, your rich, dense characters and wonderful writing!
Cheers~
Hmmm, this is a neato idea! And not to be freaky but I just watched Zodiac and Cherie mentioning Vallejo reminded me of it! I've always wanted to visit CA but that movie was freakin' scary! I can't believe that guy went that long without being caught. Anyways, off topic...
ReplyDeleteI live in the most dinky town you will probably find (okay, maybe not really, but you have to drive an hour to get to a mall!) in NC, in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains, the Blue Ridge Parkway is about 15 minutes from my house, so a lot of great outdoorsy things to do, which unlike Karen I love! :D
Camping, hiking, riding horses or just joy rides in the car, there is a lot of great scenery around, especially in the fall and spring.
I live on the side of a mountain which scares my in-laws who live in SC in a completely flat lawned neighborhood! LOL. I'm surrounded by woods and family which is good and not so good when you want privacy. :D
And I believe that I started reading your work because it was linked to Beth's which I found via TSR. Or maybe via Karen. Can't remember now it's been too long!
Hi Gayl,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Robin I live in central Alabama and there is not alot to talk about here. I live in a tiny 3 bedroom house. I have 3 wonderful boys (23,9 & 7) and in Oct I am going to be a grandma for the first time. I was born in Ft Walton Bch, Fl and I love it there and miss it. I moved to bama because my hubby is from here.
I am not sure how I found your sims stories. I read yours, Drews, Emily, Cheripye and a few more. I LOVE them so much. It hard when the stories end I miss reading them. Sorry if this was long and boring. You all are so talented and write so well. You bring me alot of joy reading your work.
Take care and God Bless.
Hugs, Robin
I want to say how fantastic it is to hear from people who read our work! It's like opening a Christmas present!
ReplyDeleteSo thank you Deep Blue Sea and Robin in particular, as readers. It's fascinating and wonderful to know who you are and that you enjoy what we're doing!
And Gayl give me a pass for jumping in here, I'm sure.
LOL! Pass granted. And I second that. We know there are many readers who don't always feel comfortable commenting which is absolutely fine. But it is nice getting to know you!
ReplyDeleteSo thank you everyone for continued support.
This is a great idea, Gayl! I've often wondered about some of you... where you might live, or what you might be like. I guess I'm just a curious cat!
ReplyDeleteI'm a native Floridian. I was born in Sarasota, where I spent most of my childhood(I love to hang out at the white sandy beaches there!), but we moved later to the country, near a small town named Arcadia. Everywhere you look, there are cow pastures and orange groves!
Our home is a cozy two-bedroom wood cottage with very high vaulted ceilings. The view from the front porch is very beautiful at night, especially in the wintertime when the stars are brightest. We often light a campfire to watch them. My favorite constellation to look for is Orion, the Great Hunter. Alongside the house, there is a small creek(my grandpa named it Okahennee "Little Spring"), and across the road, there are miles of orange groves... and more cow pastures beyond that! We also have peacocks living wild in the area. You can hear their eerie cries toward evening time.
Our one drawback are the mosquitos that come out in the summertime. Ugh! I hate those things!!! And we also have other creepy crawy critters that I detest! But, as a note on the bright side, we have the cute little fireflies! They pop out in the park at night! And there's also a family of great-horned owls that we like to watch for! : )
I ran into you indirectly, as well. I was an avid fan of SB's storyblog at TSR, via Tony's storyblog. He introduced me to your site... and the rest has been, as they say, history!
And I must agree with the others... Your writing is AWESOME! STUPENDOUS! I've enjoyed reading your stories very much! Hope you are having a great summer!
I love all of your stories! I read them during my lunch break at work.
ReplyDeleteIt was just a coincidence that I found your site. One boring day I found the story "The Lovers" and I got hooked! Your Story Alliance is awesome!!

I am so glad that people have been leaving comments here! It is nice getting to "know" you all a little. Thanks Colliegirl and Hook in Maryland for leaving one!
