I received an email this morning that one of my YouTube movies was blocked for copyright infringement. This isn't the first time this has happened but I have to say I am very frustrated by it once again. There are so many videos on YouTube that are blatant theft. Not one single bit of original work at all, like people recorded something and shoved it up there (cartoons, music videos, concert footage, etc). All I did was make a stupid Sims 2 movie and use a song as accompaniment. No one "out there" will explain why people like me are penalized when this is going on.
So...and I have considered this for some time now...I will probably be pulling my videos off of YouTube soon and just sharing them with friends who are interested in seeing them. I don't know what else to do. I have a few ideas running through my head for videos I want to make, but I just don't know now.

ReplyDeleteI think they give you some links in that email they sent you.. Just accept the terms and condition and they will add a "link and some advertisement" to your video showing the "original video or music" of the video you made... :D

my "back to black" video (black and white) version was blocked too, lol I accepted their terms and they put it back, but go see it, they add some advertisement in there
ReplyDeleteI think it has something to do witht he visits you are getting, lol maybe you are getting few visits a day and the sponsor want to take advantage of that!! :D
so it means you did a great job with your videos!! :D well at least that's what my hubby made me believed... lol lol

ReplyDeleteSandy I don't have an option to link with ads. I can mute the audio (what's the point in that), replace the audio from a list of YouTube's authorized music, or remove it entirely. It just isn't worth it. I don't care so much about the comments, that isn't why I do them, but it just seems wrong somehow. I am not profiting from this in any way. But I understand. I wouldn't appreciate anyone copying my work and ideas and claiming it as theirs...

I think you can also upload videos to koinup, there is a lot of "other worlds" stuff in there, including the sims2 and secondlife, etc. etc. you can put upload them there, you need an account and it is free... the quality is good too... I have an account there but I have never uploaded any videos, lol just pictures...

I do not know much about the video portion of the game. Am a bit frightened of it considering they never focus right for me. Plus my movements are jerky, LOL!

What about Google video, do you know if that is any better? I just quickly looked them up, had not heard about it before. I figured maybe there was a way to actually just post videos directly to our blogs. Without using YouTube, and they mentioned Google video.
Well, I'll have to check them out more, and see if they are better. The I can get out of YouTube before I get kicked out, lol! :D
I think you might also be able to upload videos/slide shows to photobucket. Free accounts do have 25GB of bandwidth monthly.

ReplyDeleteI don't get it either especially when there are blatant rip-offs out there. I'm scared to try anywhere else really. I don't know what they do to you aside from yank your video and slap your hand with a ruler but I still get annoyed.
It might be worthwhile to look at Google I guess. Or Koinup. If I make the next to videos that I want to, that might be an option. Or I post a notice and if anyone wants to watch it, I can share the files although that is not my first choice. I guess I'll wait until I actually finish this next one...then we'll see.

ReplyDeleteSo where do they come from? Hmmm, theives, that's where! How can they say that something YOU created out of a game is stealing? That does not make sense. And as for the song, isn't giving credit enough to say that you didn't make it?
I know we tried to figure this out a while ago when I uploaded my last video but I haven't thought about it again since I finally got it uploaded. I'm really not sure what the best way is but it is total crap that they would do that to a sims video.
