Spellbound

This took so much longer than I anticipated. I had all the poses mapped out and figured it would be a snap until I realized...I didn't have the pose boxes installed. Oh well.

Had to snap that shot above. Cadence thought it was pretty funny how Gemma was dancing in the puddle. We'll see how funny she thinks Gemma is down the road...

What Do You Think

I took this shot for my previous Chameleon update. It was one of two shots that I didn't use because ultimately the lot was too small to fit the scene. I did sort of like how this shot looked though. I have been slowly trying to develop the line of sight in my downtown so that it might have some of the elements I admire so much in Beth's. So you can see the police station in the distance and this rather large and empty spot in between. Maybe I will put a parking lot there.

Anyway the real point of this post is to ask those of you who read this whether or not having fewer images in Sims stories bothers you. I ask because lately I have felt more free with my writing knowing that I don't have to worry as much about capturing the words in images or changing what I wrote because I simply cannot capture it effectively.

I don't know if I will change this new approach simply because it works so much better for me but I am curious about how people feel about shots vs. text in Sims stories.

Fathers

A while back I did a photo shoot of fathers and sons. If I had all my fathers and sons re-installed I would most definitely have done another one. Since that isn't going to happen today I am going to focus on one man, maybe an unlikely candidate for father of the year given his past, but in my eyes he is perfect.
I chose this particular image because of recent conversation about his son and a certain rock star's daughter. Nature Boy, who missed the opportunity to get the girl by chasing bugs instead needed a bit of a talk from his father who knows a good deal about getting the girl. Maybe it was a talk that happened a little too late for the girl in question but I assure you, the boy was an apt pupil.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, fictional, pixelated, and real. You all deserve a little sugar today.

Graphics - They Make All the Difference

So I just looked at my blogs here at work and from my Mac and holy shit my shots look fantastic! Not pixelated, very clear and rich and vivid! Now I am wondering if that so-called top of the line graphics card I have - isn't.

Belated

One thing I seem to do is mark dates. Certain events that for some reason I feel I need to hold onto. I have calendars. Personal events, school events, baseball schedules, bills schedule, character birthdays (yes I am that insane). Sadly I never check them.

One remarkable date that I did not intend to let slip by uncelebrated was the anniversary of Dark December. I meant to crack open a bottle of something (pain relievers I'm sure) and do a special post. Right. I missed it. Why? No clue. I must have been doing something...

Losing Light

Sometimes it is good to try something different, to bend the rules and be innovative, to just take a chance on doing something outside the norm. This piece is exactly that. It takes a look at one situation from different eyes. I love it.

I am thrilled to have been a part of it but the creativity was all Beth.

Passages 21.

Nature Boy

This shot has nothing to do with the update I just posted over on Intermezzo. I just liked the shot. It made me smile. Little boy no more. Still Bug Boy at heart though.

This piece was written awhile back in celebration of Nic's birthday.

Announcement and an Update of Sorts

As a person who is generally resistant to change the need to start a new blog always baffles me. But I was talking about it with Beth and realized that my need to create, particularly when I am stuck, is why I think I do it. It is like a quest for perfection and I am looking for that perfect place to call home for my writing. Of course there is no such thing IMHO, perfection that is, but at least it settles the need in my mind.

Having said that, I am announcing another blog. It is called Intermezzo. What we will post are short pieces that don't have anything to do with the main storyline but touch on the day to day lives and events of people we do not normally write about. There will be no posting schedule and you do not need to feel obligated to read although you may enjoy it.

We have wanted to do this for a very long time and with Beth's encouragement the first piece is there. Approximately 880 words and 8 screen caps. An Unexpected Encounter.

In Perfect Harmony

In June of 2007 I posted my first chapter of Dark December. Since that time, the story has evolved and changed in part through a collaboration that developed and lasted over 4 years. During this time a friendship was forged. Thank you Beth, for unwavering friendship, support, and generosity over these last 4+ years. It has been a journey I will never forget.
