At work we are all about the DNA so we had an opportunity to swap spit, or actually submit spit with a company that is going to tell me a whole lot of fascinating information about my DNA, more specifically my personal genome analysis. In a few short weeks I will know more about myself and my ancestry than I probably care to. Hopefully I am not predisposed to serial killing.
SB and I are on the verge of an update. I had a minor meltdown over the shots. It's been awhile. I wasn't prepared. A lot of them are less than inspired. My mantra has always been that the shots are just gloss but when they suck, they stand out. So. If and when it gets posted, please excuse the crappy photos. I just don't have the energy to retake them.
And to expand on a post from last week, the Chameleon update has been scrapped. I just don't think I can shoot it. Back to the drawing board I go to have a stab at it from a different angle.
This morning I learned how to make beads of sweat in Photoshop. It looks better on a bottle than on a body though. Now if I could only get that sheen that comes from hot sweaty bodies I will be a happy camper. And if anyone knows how to do a drape, as in a silky satiny scarf sort of drape on a female Sim body, please tell me.
That is all.

In Perfect Harmony
In June of 2007 I posted my first chapter of Dark December. Since that time, the story has evolved and changed in part through a collaboration that developed and lasted over 4 years. During this time a friendship was forged. Thank you Beth, for unwavering friendship, support, and generosity over these last 4+ years. It has been a journey I will never forget.

In dreams, we'll never be apart
In dreams, I'll promise you'll never be alone
How much I wish your voice could send me home
I was watching a show yesterday, about the DNA information, they were doing it to Sarah Jessica Parker, and they went back to her ancestry, centuries and centuries back into her past, and she found out she is descended from witches!!! It was really interesting! But creepy too.
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to learned to do the beads of sweat for a long time now, but I haven't figure it out, it doesn't look realistic enough. :(
Hopefully I will be able to catch up with my reading soon.
I just wanted to say Thank You, for your support and your thoughts Thank you!
I know it's crazy what they come up with! They also warn you about learning things you may not want to know but I really find it fascinating!
ReplyDeleteMy beads of sweat don't look very realistic either and I suppose I could keep trying but...maybe another time. And you are most welcome S@ndy! I'm really glad you are back.
what kind of drape? I can try, but I seriously advise you that I am a NOOB when it comes to drawing in PS. The most I can do is something that has lowlight and highlights to appear like it has substance... see here, or for a custom pic I did just tonight specifically for you (lol cause i'm a perfectionist....) see here.
ReplyDeleteOh wow Christi that blanket...did you draw that? Amazing! Basically what I want to do...giving it away here...imagine one of my Chameleon girls in a photo shoot on her side nude with a sheer drape (although it doesn't need to be sheer) across her hips. That is sort of what I am going for. I fail at using brushes and getting the transparency right. But you have the idea with that blanket shot!
ReplyDeleteIf you'd like me to, I can play around with it... I wouldn't have time tonight b/c I'm leaving for the in-laws in a bit, but tomorrow I will. When do you need it by?
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely in no hurry. It is for a photo shoot that I haven't even done yet so whenever you have time. It's low priority ok? Thank you so much!!!
ReplyDeleteNo problemo!!! I'd be more than happy to help!! :D
ReplyDeleteThe shots are NOT crappy and it will get posted.
ReplyDeleteYou don't get to do the 'shots are crappy' thing because you won't let me do it. So there.
And I'm fascinated with the genome analysis!
Wow, the DNA thing souds very cool. I've always wanted to do one more for the genetic pre-disposition thing than for the ancestry (that part is kind of obvious, at least to me and my family has been good with researching that).
ReplyDeleteI seriously cannot imagine you taking crappy shots; won't even entertain the idea. The full vision just might not have been realized yet, that's all. I'm sure you'll work it out. You always do.
I have to say that sometimes ancestry isn't what you think it is. My family is pretty thoroughly researched too, except for my father's paternal line which ends abruptly and mysteriously about 1880 in Mississippi. Some relatives poured a lot of money into professional research and came up blank, probably because the guy in question lied about who he was. Given the time frame and the photos of his children, he may have had good reason to lie. A treasure hunt I wish I could solve.
ReplyDeleteSB, I should have used the word uninspired for the shots. It was more of a struglle than I am used to, probably because I'm out of practice and was unprepared. And I'm intrigued by the mystery surrounding your ancestors! I always like doing detective work like that.
ReplyDeleteMuzegoddess, this genome process does give you information for genetic pre-disposition which is why they warn you that you may learn things you didn't want to know. I mailed it off this morning so in a few short weeks I guess we'll know!
