Reflections

Quite a lot has happened this year in South Beach and much of it occurred "off camera" if you will. Many of you will recognize this motley crew of youngsters but in case you don't, they are as follows: On the sofa left to right are Eric Stanfield, Devlin Holloway, and Nate Stanfield. Standing between Eric and Dev is Riley McDermott. Toddling on the floor are 3 kids that I doubt anyone knows about (except their parents of course) Autumn Taylor, Garrett Savage, and Harmony Stanfield. Beth and I were discussing the youth in our world and you will be seeing and hearing more from this group in the coming year.

Because I am not capable of growing kids without chronicling every last detail, there is picspam under the cut. I promise I kept it to a minimum (not). And please forgive the image clarity, I used the in-game camera for many of these shots. Which actually look better than my unedited Gadwin shots. Hmmm...

I hope you all had a holiday that was filled with peace, light and love.
[begin picspam]

First up is Devlin Holloway.

Devlin blows out his toddler birthday candles with a little assistance from his father, Shaun.

Yes, Dev, life as a child is indeed quite good. He loves the water just like Shaun.

Not sure about this hair but his child hair was a bit too...I don't know, short maybe? It may change again down the road. But he is quite stylish! Gets that from Stevie I'm sure.

And a closeup. Very handsome. I can see both parents so it will be fascinating to see how he turns out.

Next up is Garrett Savage. I don't have a lot of shots for him since Slim and Bonni's lot keeps crashing on me.

Slim wasn't very happy when I told him he had to move. This is a really nice home but...it crashes without fail. It probably isn't the lot since the house I moved them to crashes as well. I blame Slim and his social network.

This is Garrett right before the game crashed but just after he was toddlerized. Dad's gorgeous green eyes. I admit I cheated when I packed him up to send to Beth and grew him up. Watch out ladies, this boy is gonna be a stunner!

Bonni helps with the candle blowing. Isn't baby Garrett adorable?? So small...

I ended up moving Slim and his family back to their original home dirty dishes, blasting music, unmade beds and all. It wasn't all that bad. He was able to teach Garrett to walk...

...and manage to shoot some hoops which he could NOT do at the beach house. (so there!)

Last but not least is Riley McD. I took a boatload of shots because the kid is so photogenic.

Dad is looking a bit rough around the edges but manages to break into a smile for his boy.

Ryan tries to spend as much quality time with Riley as he can. Being a single father is rough but Landry's mom helps out when she can. Here Riley gets a helping hand from his dad as he takes his first steps.

I love this shot. He looks so much like Ryan here but he seems to have the darker red hair that his mother had. Riley is mostly a happy kid although he does get a bit melancholy at times.

This was cute. Hopefully that isn't the latest copy of Probe that Riley is reading...

And because it is like a tradition on Mondays, a blogthing. If you managed to get this far you might as well have a reward.

You Are Chocolate Truffles

You are unpredictable and even a little zany. No one knows what to expect when you're around.

You have a short attention span and need a lot of variety in your life.

You are easily addicted to the things that you love. It's hard for you to only eat one chocolate from the box.

  1. Awwww!!! All the kids are just SO cute!!! And the in game shots weren't bad at all! Here's hoping that you figure out what the deal is with Gadwin...wait! I read your twitter. What's up with Blogger than? O_o

  2. I love this. I get so excited when I think about the impact these kids could have on the story. So many new personalities and possibilities. You can pic spam this stuff anytime. :)

  3. I will admit, I knew Beth and Cooper had another kid... but from the pictures, I didn't know it was a girl. Now I feel bad, LOL!

Oh wow, Riley is getting big! The pictures with him and Ryan were cute. :)

And holy crap, Devlin is a teen. I am anticipating some angst. Hopefully he missed the whole "Stevie and Cooper" thing, but I doubt it.

As for the shots, I saw on your twitter that blogger is doing it. It's probably compressing them as you upload, like facebook does.

  4. Happy New Year, Great shots, Ryan as a daddy just melted my heart, now, if we can just find him a woman to love...

  5. Phoenix, thanks! The in-games shots do look better here than my Gadwin shots. I'm baffled. But I experimented last night and noticed that if you use Picasa's "Blog This!" option it automatically converts images to jpg so I am wondering if uploading normally messes them up too. I used .pngs and uploaded via Picasa and they were jpgs on the post but they looked good. If I just upload pngs the usual way, they remain pngs but look shitty. And the group shot I used bmp and only saved as jpg, did nothing to the shot, and it looks awful on the post but perfectly fine in Photoshop. *shrug* I don't know...

Thanks again and you have a safe and fabulous New Year yourself!

  6. Muzegoddess, I don't do enough picspam. I hardly ever actually play in my world so everyone gets a bit neglected. There are many possibilities with this bunch that's for sure.

    Thanks!

  7. Mao, I would have preferred Riley was still very young but technically he should be the same age as the Stanfield twins if you think about it. It just doesn't work for me story-wise. Same with Thalia in Chameleon. But I have never been too terribly concerned with continuity in that respect. And Devlin, poor guy, should actually be older than the twins. I had to age them up. The toddlers however are at the right age! For story purposes it would have worked better if he was still young but...

Blogger is my latest target, yes. Although other people use it and their shots don't look awful like mine. I am worried because I am ready to shoot an update and am concerned about the images. Blog This would work but you can only upload 4 shots at a time...

  9. I had a wordpress.com account lying around, so I just use it. They give you like 3gigs of storage and use a multiple image uploader. So far, it works well for me!

  10. Mao, I have blogs/journals all over the place but I don't think I want to move everything over especially since continuity between Beth and I is important (even if kids' ages isn't hehe). I don't want to move everything and it has only been recently that the images have sucked. And it seems to just be mine. Everyone else on blogger has nice crisp clear images.

And I admit I am too lazy/don't have enough time to learn how to customize wordpress/LJ/dreamwidth. And my Photoshop is acting funny too. I ran a repair (now it keeps asking me to register...) but I don't know...

  11. You can just hotlink the wordpress.com images, that's what I do. If you look at the image URLS, they all go back to maonao.wordpress.com, LOL! You just have to copy/paste the URLs as opposed to however blogger has you do it. :)

  12. I adore this shot! And I still don't see anything wrong with your shots in general.

thank you so much for doing this

  13. I notice a difference from the original, which now that I look at it is not that great either. I played around with blogger and Picasa and notice a tremendous difference in the quality depending on how I upload. And no one else who uses blogger (that I follow) has this issue. I'm totally baffled.

But thank you. I love that shot along with the YA shot. I should do the "old folks" at New Year's maybe...

Thanks for leaving me your thoughts ~ they always mean a lot.

In Perfect Harmony

In June of 2007 I posted my first chapter of Dark December. Since that time, the story has evolved and changed in part through a collaboration that developed and lasted over 4 years. During this time a friendship was forged. Thank you Beth, for unwavering friendship, support, and generosity over these last 4+ years. It has been a journey I will never forget.

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

In dreams, the sun sets in our eyes
In dreams, we'll never be apart
In dreams, I'll promise you'll never be alone
How much I wish your voice could send me home
