...so I am told. I, apparently, am not virtuous since my patience is frayed beyond belief right now. I finally bit the bullet and ordered the graphics card I desperately needed. I paid extra for faster delivery only to find that it is STILL going to take the requisite 3 days to get here.
I have been checking the UPS tracking number every 5 minutes (I told you I'm not patient) and it has been stuck on DESTINATION SCAN since last evening at 9:39PM. In transit. Does that mean it is on the truck? So I called. I got a recording. An interactive recording. Can I say that I hate those as well? I really miss the days when humans answered the phones...maybe there is a story in that down the road.
For all I know it is sitting on my front steps. Or a yellow tag is pasted to my door. "Sorry you weren't home when we decided to deliver your package. We'll try again tomorrow." I hope they just leave the package. I really don't want to do this again tomorrow.
Everything I am doing or ever planned to do is on hold right now. First order of business (after this lengthy rant) is a backup and an install of the new, shiny graphics card followed by the reinstall of the game. I am tempted to go with empty neighborhood templates. At least the character files won't overflow if I decide to clone the entire world population and have them all interact with each other.
I would love to insert a pretty picture here. But I can't. I'm at work. And if I was home, my sim world won't let me stay in it anyway to get a pretty picture. Or a bad one.

In Perfect Harmony
In June of 2007 I posted my first chapter of Dark December. Since that time, the story has evolved and changed in part through a collaboration that developed and lasted over 4 years. During this time a friendship was forged. Thank you Beth, for unwavering friendship, support, and generosity over these last 4+ years. It has been a journey I will never forget.
"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."
"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."
In dreams, we'll never be apart
In dreams, I'll promise you'll never be alone
How much I wish your voice could send me home
and if it rains on the box they might leave if they feel like leaving it without a signature...
ReplyDeleteno, that's not going to happen since I control the rain. Long pause. Now that I've admitted to controlling the weather, I'm going to admit I can't help with the rest of it. But when and where I can, I will.
I will say the grey clouds have disappeared and there is some blue sky so thatnk you for holding back the rain...
ReplyDeleteI should have requested FedEx. At least they let you know if your package is on the damned truck...and they answer their phones.
But thank you for the support...always.
as much as i'm anxious to see what you've got lined up, i'm as frustrated as you are!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand what you mean. BUt there there, you've got 101 rabid fans who definitely will be patient :). loves <33!
I feel your pain girl, I'm about a week away from doing the same thing myself. Do you have to reinstall after the new graphics card, the game won't just keep running like usual? That will suck, I've already had to backup my files once for my new computer. (That I didn't know had a crappy graphics card!)
ReplyDeleteAnd any shipping for me other than a greeting card is one of the worst experiences you can go through. If you're lucky enough that someone doesn't rip open your package, it takes forever to get to you and possibly left out in the rain. Although I did get one from FedEx one time that he put inside a large plastic bag, so that was nice. And my mail lady put my package inside my car one time because I wasn't home and it was pouring rain. Talk about weird to find new mail in your car, how did that get there?! (She's a friend too, so don't think she was trying to steal my car or anything!) I'll keep my fingers crossed for you though, hope everything goes smoothly when you do actually get it!
